August 16th, 2022Special Report: Infinite Green Energy is making inroads into the North American market through a joint venture with Red Earth Energy and Frontier Impact Group
Canada was selected as the ideal location for the new H2 Canada JV for the production of green hydrogen due to its abundance of fresh water, hydroelectricity and wind energy potential.
Additionally, the JV will form partnerships with Indigenous First Nations communities in Canada to support and supply green hydrogen to a new, developing Canadian domestic market and export markets in Europe, Asia, the US and the Americas.
Several locations have been identified and all are progressing at different stages.
The JV plans to initially reduce carbon emissions in Canada by 120,000t per annum and create large economic opportunities in the renewable energy space.
“It’s a great pleasure to join with Red Earth Energy to deliver H2 Canada working in partnership with First Nations traditional landowners,” Infinite Green Energy chief executive officer Stephen Gauld said.
“Canada is an ideal location to enable green hydrogen delivery into the American and European markets.”
Frontier Impact Group managing director Jennifer Patterson expressed the company’s belief that green hydrogen has an important role to play in the energy transition and expected to leveraging its experience in the Australia market with its partners to achieve impactful results in Canada.
“Red Earth Energy will leverage the expertise of Infinite Green Energy, the leading green hydrogen company in Australia and internationally and Frontier Impact Group, a climate solutions investment and advisory firm who are pioneering the transition of Australia to net carbon zero, to hit the ground running in Canada,” Red Earth Energy managing director Peter Walsh said.
Green hydrogen hubs
The JV intends to propose green hydrogen hubs in Newfoundland, Quebec and British Columbia.
Feasibility studies will be carried out with the help of First Nations communities in Canada during the fourth quarter of 2022, and these are expected to be completed within 10 months.
The move expands on the company’s existing operations in Western Australia such as the MEG HP1 project in Northam and the larger Arrowsmith Hydrogen Plant.
