Infinite Green Energy signs MOU with Strike Energy’s Project Haber

Infinite Green Energy (IGE, formerly Infinite Blue Energy), today, announced it has entered a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Strike Energy to supply renewable hydrogen to its Project Haber urea production facility near Geraldton.

Strike Energy will manufacture 1.4Mtpa of low carbon urea at the Narngulu Industrial Estate at Geraldton and will require up to 390 tpd of green hydrogen to complement the renewable hydrogen produced on site.

Infinite Green Energy CEO, Stephen Gauld, said the signing of the MOU is evidence of the growing demand in industry for green hydrogen domestically, which reflects the growth in market potential being experienced overseas.

“The potential for renewable hydrogen as a pillar of a cleaner economic transformation is being recognised throughout the world with government policy positions and a growing commitment from large industry to decarbonise incentivising investment in large-scale hydrogen projects as carbon neutral forms of energy,” Mr Gauld said.

“IGE is on a pathway to producing 265tpd of green hydrogen for domestic and export markets from its Arrowsmith Hydrogen Plant in Western Australia. I am excited that we have entered into a MOU with Strike Energy as a first step to securing a long-term supply partnership with Project Haber, which currently represents the biggest industrial manufacturing opportunity for green hydrogen off-take in Australia.”

IGE will develop its Arrowsmith Hydrogen Plant in three stages with the first stage of 25tpd of green hydrogen being produced during late 2024 with anticipated production of 5tpd as part of our demonstration project.

Once the three stages are completed, Arrowsmith Hydrogen Plant will produce up to 265tonnes of green hydrogen each day from 1314MW of solar, 1030MW of wind and 110MW of battery energy located on site. The 96,000 tonnes of green hydrogen each year will displace more than 1.3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions based on natural gas emission rates.

Arrowsmith will be a worldwide scale Green Hydrogen facility supporting domestic Australia and Asia Pacific from its flagship location in the Perth Basin. Below is the production ramp up to support Project Haber.
